Robert Boulter graduated with first class honours in civil engineering in 1965. He gained experience in the United Kingdom and Canada before accepting an appointment in Thailand in 1972 to manage the local office of an international Architectural and Engineering practice based in the UK. He has lived and worked in Thailand since then, and became a Thai citizen in 1988. Robert’s experience in Thailand has included senior appointments for both Thai and International Consultants, a Director level appointment with a major Australian/Thai Project Management company, and as Vice President for specialist Design and Construction Divisions in two locally based international construction companies. Robert specialises in the management of the design and construction of commercial, residential and industrial projects. In recent years he has been responsible for the development of some of Thailand's largest retail sites and distribution centres, as well as luxury hotels, office towers, condominiums and residential units, educational establishments and light and heavy industrial projects. His proficiency in the Thai language enables design and construction meetings or contract negotiations to be accurately translated ensuring that our Client's intentions are clearly understood. Tim Newth graduated with honours in Quantity Surveying in 1983, following which he gained experience as a professional quantity surveyor in a well established UK private practice. In 1989, he accepted an offer to move to Australia to work within a Sydney based private practice, becoming an Australian citizen in 1996 and being appointed a director of the same company in 1997; a position which he held for five years.In recent years, Tim has gained construction cost management experience in South East Asia, initially being appointed QS Manager for a Bangkok based private practice for a period of two years: mainly undertaking luxury hotel and resort projects, condominiums, offices and retail shopping centres. Prior to joining Boulter Stewart this year as our QS Manager, Tim undertook a cost management consulting role for one year on behalf of a major Japanese corporation operating in Hanoi, Vietnam. Kunavoot Petchnual (Thai) B.Sc. (Construction Engineering) Member Engineering Institute of Thailand Licensed Civil Engineer Khun Kunavoot has 20 years experience in the Thai construction industry. He started his career as a soils engineer responsible for materials quality control with leading Swiss based international materials testing consultant, Societe Generale et Surveillance (SGS), and has since held positions on site as both Resident Engineer and QA/QC Engineer. He is Boulter Stewart Ltd’s Chief Materials Testing Engineer, and is manager of the Company’s materials testing office based in Rayong.
Chaichumpol Chantarami (Thai) B.Sc. (Industrial Technology in Construction Engineering) Member Engineering Institute of Thailand Licensed Civil Engineer Khun Chaichumpol has 20 years experience in the Thai construction industry. He started his career as a site engineer with leading Swiss based international materials testing consultant, Societe Generale et Surveillance (SGS), and has since held positions on as both Resident Site Engineer and Senior Estimator. He is Boulter Stewart Ltd’s Senior Engineer, based in our Bangkok office.

Following postgraduate degree studies in economics and accountancy David Stewart gained civil engineering design and site experience with the British contractors Shanks & McEwan, Mitchell Bros., Tarmac and John Mowlem. In 1979, he moved to the Far East to join the team supervising construction of Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway projects. An appointment followed in 1984 as senior resident engineer, responsible for three city centre “design and construct” underground projects on the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit Railway. In 1987, after the Singapore projects had been completed, David established a project management firm in Bangkok. After four years of steady growth, the firm entered a joint venture with a leading European multinational company. David continued as managing director of the JV firm. In recent years, David has also undertaken consulting appointments in U.K., Denmark, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan and Singapore. He established our sister company Stewart Engineers, in April 1997. David's professional interests include contract management and dispute resolution. Arthur Hawtin (British / Thai PR). Chartered Quantity SurveyorFellow Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) London Associate Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Arthur Hawtin has had more than fifty years experience as a professional quantity surveyor, initially for a period of fifteen years in the United Kingdom. In 1972 he accepted a senior appointment in Thailand, being responsible for managing all technical aspects of a Bangkok based private practice, a position which he held for nine years. During this time, Arthur also undertook temporary assignments in Malaysia and Singapore. An appointment followed in 1982 as resident director in the Tokyo office of a “top twenty” UK Quantity Surveying practice, where he was responsible for the start-up, development and organization of the group’s Japanese activities and for liaison with Japanese Clients worldwide. Arthur has lived and worked in Japan since then, continuing as a director of the same company until 2007, responsible for group strategy and policy throughout East and South East Asia, providing Quantity Surveying and Facility Management consulting services to a variety of blue-chip Japanese and foreign clients. He now undertakes independent consulting appointments, both as a senior advisor in Japan, and for Boulter Stewart Limited in Thailand.
Dr. Stephen Buttling (British / Thai PR) B.Sc. (Eng) Imperial College, University of London Ph.D. University of Bristol Chartered Professional Engineer (Australia) Registered Professional Engineer – Civil (Australia) Chartered Engineer (UK) Dr. Stephen Buttling has spent twenty four years living and working in South East Asia, initially Hong Kong and then Singapore, before becoming a resident in Bangkok for sixteen years up until 2006. For all his working career, Stephen has been involved in geotechnical engineering and has extensive experience in site investigation and soil testing, ground improvement and ground treatment, driven and cast-in-place piling, deep basement excavations, diaphragm walling, soil and rock anchoring, foundations, soil and rock slope cutting and remedial works, formations for building works, road pavements and permanent ways and tunneling. In recent years he has undertaken appointments in Australia, being involved with a number of major projects encompassing soft ground, deep foundations, underground structures and reinforced fill and also undertakes independent consulting appointments for Boulter Stewart Limited in Thailand. Dr. Stephen Buttling is a past chairman of The Society of Professional Engineers in Thailand, and has given lectures at Chulalognkorn University and the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.

After returning to Thailand from the United Kingdom, Piangjai joined BSL/SEL to help develop the Firms’ civil and structural design capability. She has been involved with the Firm’s work in both Thailand and Singapore. She is currently responsible for managing all design related services including feasibility, concept and detailed design, and design review. Piangjai is also looking after luxury residential projects for our Clients in both Singapore and Thailand. Jim Cameron has had over twenty years of hands on management construction site experience covering the construction of motorways, bridges, factories, reservoirs and miscellaneous facilities. He was construction project manager for a 500 bed private hospital in Bangkok before specialising in project planning, programming and materials scheduling. Jim has substantial computer literacy and is an expert in the use of Primavera, MS Project, Project Scheduler and Suretrack. Jim is responsible for all planning and programming aspects of our work. He has lived and worked in Thailand for over 10 years.
